Sunday Spa Days: Lush Bath Bombs

“Being pampered is great, but sometimes I like to do those things myself because it’s a little therapeutic and gives me some downtime for myself – and I need that.” ~ Annie Ilonzeh

Sunday Spa Days

We all need a little TLC from time to time, and spa days are the perfect way to do that. There is something incredibly relaxing about doing a little pampering just because YOU want too. While I love going for a massage or getting my nails done, some days I just want to stay in and do some primping.

One of the easiest ways to feel pampered is having a bath. I have always loved baths and actually take them more then showers. You do not have to worry about getting your hair wet. Nor are you trying to do a dance, shaving. Baths are not only easy, but give a luxurious feel, even if it is only for five minutes.

Bath Bombs

After the month (or year….See what I did there?) I have had, I needed some serious pick me up loving. I decided to take the plunge (pun intended) and splurge on some much needed bath bombs. They are the ultimate luxury. Perhaps because I don’t get them that often, when I do, I get super giddy and feel ridiculously spoiled.

Dragon’s Egg

Will the Game of Throne fans please stand up? The minute I saw what this bath bomb was called, I knew I had to get it.

This is a bath bomb that proves patience IS a virtue. While I adored the soft citrusy smell, aside from filling the tub with a lot of foam, that seemed to be the extent to it. It was SO bland!

The disappointment began to ebb as it fizzled and all of the sudden it popped open releasing an orange glittery display of colorful bubbly goodness. The water was so soft, I felt like I was surrounded by cashmere. Even Daenerys Targaryen would have approved.

Even after I rinsed off, my skin was still buttery soft with a shimmery hue. The scent also lingered, and I could still smell it when I woke up the next morning.

While it was a dubious start, Dragon’s Egg has become not only my favorite Bath Bomb, but also my favorite Lush Product. If you want to try a bath bomb and are not sure where to start, I recommend this one.

Big Blue

No, this isn’t a reference to the New York Giants (and of course I went there) but to the deep blue sea. Being a mermaid at heart, of course this called to me. The subtle ocean smell had me before I was out the door.

If I am being honest, I don’t buy the bombs for what they can do, but how they smell. (yes I should probably change that) Smell counts for everything and Big Blue took me back to Summer days at the ocean. With the Winter we have been having, I desperately needed some reminding.

It turned my bath water a gorgeous blue almost from the start. It fizzed for quite awhile releasing that salty scent and leaving seaweed in its wake. The water was not as thick or soft as other bath bombs I have used, and I was disappointed with that. I like to feel luxurious when I soak.

Despite the blue color, it didn’t stain the tub. Clean-up, which a lot of people complain about, was easy peasy. It was satisfying and fun to play with the Seaweed, but I am not sure I would willingly buy this bath bomb myself again.

Green Coconut Jelly Bomb

This is actually part of Lush’s Jelly Bomb collection and the first time I used a Jelly bomb.

While these have gotten a lot of mixed reviews especially with the melting process, I actually really enjoyed it. I didn’t find it difficult to melt and I actually liked the clumps, that when rubbed against my skin, made it super soft.

The water turned a gorgeous lime green, but was still easy to clean up. It foamed nicely much like the Dragon’s Egg and left my skin silky. The smell was probably my favorite part. I am a hug fan of coconut and this was beyond divine.

There wasn’t anything spectacular about it. It is just a great basic bath bomb to use any time you need some TLC and relaxation.

Golden Egg

If you want to feel luxurious with some sass, THIS Bath Bomb is for you. Oh my lanta this is like a Mariah Carey-esque Bath Bomb. The glitz! The glam! Even the smell was scrumptious!

It is part of their Easter line, and is limited edition. It has the bling factor and the glitter does get EVERYWHERE, which I did not have an issue with. I also loved the smell. It was touted as a toffee scent, but I thought it smelled more like cocoa butter, which I loved.

Unlike other bath bombs that float, this sinks to the bottom as it fizzes because it is so dense. The tub was filled with sparkles which lasted for days! This is the perfect bomb if you want to shimmer and shine on a night out.

Lush

I have been shopping Lush for years. When I went to France their bar shampoo and conditioner are what I brought due to the liquids ban. Their products always smell so earthy, natural and good. And I love that they are cruelty free. They also support monthly causes, giving back to the environment and community around them.

Do you use bath bombs? Have you used Lush’s? What is your favorite one?
