Celebrating Christmas

Hello friends and Merry Christmas! Technically Christmas lasts until January sixth, and I for one am willing to celebrate until then! This Christmas season has been filled with so many blessings and memories and my heart is so full. I know it sounds cheesy, but it is true. Leading up to Christmas my family rented a cabin in my home town and we had a mountain Christmas. Which might not be a Nautical Christmas, but it was pretty darn magical. Having my cousin and her daughter, who is my god daughter with us, reminded me of Christmases as a child when all the cousins would get together and celebrate. Seeing many of these traditions passed down and sharing some of the shenanigans with the next generation just might have been the highlight of Christmas Day.

Leading up to the day

In some ways this season felt like it was back to normal pre-covid with all the travel I under took and holiday festivities being back to normal. I got to do all the Christmas-y things in New York, including traditions of years passed. I travelled down South where it was warmer, but the epitome of a Southern Christmas which I always love. When I got back to my hometown, I went with my family and we did sleigh rides, the Polar Express which is a train ride that takes us to the North Pole, and went skiing and tubing. It was a smorgasbord of Christmas and Winter fun, and I got to do it with my favorite people. We hung out at the rental, and did big family dinners which I loved.

Christmas Day

Christmas monring was low key, with the Slavish breakfast we do every year and opening presents. In the afternoon we all got together and had a pre-dinner nerf war, which even my god daughter partook in and she was the toughest of us all. She had an absolute blast. It reminded me of when I was a child and we played downstairs, having seances and paying flashlight tag. It was so fun to see the next generation having fun! Afterwards, we ate, opened presents and just hung out, and reminisced.

Santa and my family and friends absolutely spoiled me with gifts. I got a new building for my Christmas village, as I do every year, some clothes, beauty products, the requisite mug or ten, a new Christmas Chappy Wrap, and gift cards. It was an amazing Christmas and I most definitely felt spoiled not just with presents, but with the memories I was able to create with those most special to me. This season has been all about connection, love, and good people. I am ending this year with an incredibly full heart.

How was your holiday season? Did you have a good Christmas?
