A Nautical Christmas 2022: Christmas Decor in the City

Christmas now surrounds us, Happiness is everywhere. Our hands are busy with many tasks as carols fill the air. ~ Shirley Sallay
Christmas in the City

Friends, truly nothing is better then being back in New York and experiencing Christmas here again. NOTHING! It is absolutely magical! Don’t get me wrong I love my Nautical Christmases and Nautical decor, but Christmas in New York is electrifying. It truly doesn’t feel like Christmas unless you are walking down Fifth Avenue seeing the gigantic snowflakes hanging and all the windows bedecked out. It really is the best! I love Christmas, and there is no where better to celebrate!

I know I have written about it before, but this year feels especially special being back after the pandemic. It has been two long years and this was the treat I needed. From exploring Bryant Park and the Winter Village and even skating there once again, to walking around the Upper East Side with all the stunning decorations, and stopping to grab a pretty pink hot cocoa at Eat Pretty, to seeing Whoville come alive with the lights at Dyker Heights, to even going to see the Radio City Rockette’s Christmas Spectactular for the first time in several years this Christmas season has never felt more alive nor more special. And I know, I know I keep saying that!

But it is so true. My heart is so full being around the hustle and bustle. I feel like I am living and breathing Silver Bells. (minus the snow which went to New England, oh well I’ll be back there soon enough.) As well as scenes out of my favorite movies, like Home Alone, with the Plaza all bedecked, to walking around the courtyard at Lotte Palace which was where Hawkeye was filmed last year. Which, even before Hawkeye, it was one of my favorite places to go as they always do a stunning job with their decor. I love seeing Macy’s windows and the life size Gingerbread houses at Madison Square Park to all the Christmas trees you can find around the city, including the newest one going up Louis Vuitton’s flagship store on Fifth Avenue.

In fact all the designer stores are decked out and I am obsessed! Christmas shopping has never been more fun! Lastly you can’t forget Rock Center! And while it does get insanely crowded, you do have to visit at least ones during the holidays! It is iconic after all! If you are looking for a festive experience, you have to visit New York at Christmas time. It is one of the best ways to experience the city in all of its glory and I am so happy to be back and to be able to experience it again!

Have you been to New York at Christmas Time? Do you love it?
