Award Catch-Up’s

“The greatest gift of life is friendship, and I have received it.” ~ Hubert H. Humphrey

Slow and steady wins the race right? Months ago (starting back in the spring maybe? yikes!) I was honored to be nominated for numerous blogging awards by some amazing bloggers. And while it has taken a long, long, LONG while, I am finally getting around to posting this.

I absolutely LOVE these awards. (even if it doesn’t seem it with how long it took!) It is a great way to connect with new bloggers, get to know the poster a little more, and recognize amazing friends. I am so incredibly grateful for the connections and friendship I have made and received through blogging. You guys are the absolute best! The women who have nominated me are such incredibly special and unique people who are so talentedly creative, not just with blogging but through their lives too. I am so incredibly grateful for the friendships I have cultivated with them.

NOW without further ado:

Sunshine Blogger Award

I was nominated for the Sunshine Blogger award by the hilarious but super sweet Heide. Her posts and comments always brighten my day. She is also an insanely talented photographer! Her pictures are down right drool worthy. She can make the most mundane objects look photogenic, and her posts are always such a treat.

The Rules:

• Thank the blogger who nominated you.
• Answer 11 questions
• Nominate 11 bloggers and ask them 11 new questions. (Only doing three)

Heide’s Questions:

What inspired you to start blogging? I have been blogging since I was (gulp) ten. Before that I had kept diaries that included five year old ramblings and lots of chicken scratch with letters going in the wrong direction. It seemed like a natural progression to go from a paper format to the world wide web, and I haven’t stopped.

What are you most proud of? This is such a hard question, because while I have  lot of “accomplishments,” I am most proud of my family. We are a close knit group (even if half the time we tease each other mercilessly and the other times we hate each other) and I am not only proud, but in awe of how my family have handled situations with courage and grace. I am so lucky to have them.

If you won the lottery, on what would you splurge? Travel. Travel. AND more travel. So many places and so little time (and money.)

Where is the last place you traveled to? Would you like to go back? Not sure if this counts since I am here as I write (type) this, but Texas and yes. I had it on my list because I want to see all fifty states, but it is a really cool place and the people have been so nice.

What is your favorite book? Why? I could name a lot of “classics” but I have to say Harry Potter. It was pivotal throughout my childhood, and as Harry “grew” so did I. The writing, the nuances and themes are all things I strongly relate too.

If you could go back in time, what advice would you give to your younger self? You are going to be okay. Tragedy and adversity are part of life, but you WILL make it through and be stronger because of it.

What is your favorite childhood memory? This is a hard one, I am lucky to have many favorites. My sister tucking me into bed and having sing-a-longs into our hair brushes definitely rank at the top.

Have you ever gotten hopelessly lost? What happened? No because I am too Type A. I will on occasion start walking in the wrong direction thanks to Google Map’s arrow, but can quickly correct it.

If you could have dinner with any famous person, whom would you choose? Do they have to be alive? I would love to have dinner with some of the last female rulers like Cleopatra or Queen Eizabeth I.

What hopes and dreams do you have for your next 10 years? To be a published author. Lived abroad. Hopefully be settled in a house by the ocean. Maybe married, and hopefully have a child.

Facts about Kate you were dying to know:

  1. I am the youngest of five.
  2. I didn’t grow up with any animals, but I LOVE dogs.
  3. I love theatre, but can not sing to save my life (legit I will make your ears bleed)
  4. I was a competitive figure skater
  5. I am naturally a dirty blonde (gasp! what this isn’t my natural hair color?)
  6. My hometown is known for beautiful foliage
  7. I want to visit all fifty states
  8. But I typically prefer to visit places by the ocean.
  9. I use to be a chef
  10. I am deathly afraid of spiders
  11. I am not a huge chocolate fan but I LOVE anything with caramel

Jamie’s Questions:

What did you eat for breakfast today? Lucky Charms

How do you take your coffee/tea? It honestly depends on where I am getting it and the time of year. If it is at home, usually just milk.

What’s your favorite outfit to wear? Again it depends on the season but I do love leggings and a hoodie.

Favorite makeup look? I go for a natural eye, but I NEED my red lipstick.

Tell us something that makes you smile. My nephews and niece. They are the cutest. When I met them at the airport, they came running over to give me a great big hug. They legit make my heart melt.

Link to your favorite recent blog post. Oh lord, I don’t have favorites, BUT I did love my recent review of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.

How would you describe your style? trendy, but chic and very much dependent on my mood.

What quality do you look for in a friend? Someone who is genuine.

What’s your favorite color? Blue

Have you ever seen a ghost? Not like Casper the ghost, but I have sensed spirits before and I have seen signs from loved ones I have lost.

What’s your favorite hobby? Does napping and drinking margs count? Kidding, kinda, but seriously I love skating. I was a competitive skater for ten years and miss it.

Jenny’s Questions:

Have you ever met anyone famous? Yes, I have. Living in New York you tend to run into a lot of famous people and I have also had them as clients.

Are you fluent in more than one language? If so, which languages can you speak? I love languages, but get super shy speaking them. I know Russian, French, and am learning Italian. Whether or not I am fluent remains to be seen.

What’s your favourite chocolate bar? Does Reeses count, otherwise it has to have caramel in it.

Who is your favourite Harry Potter character and why? Ughhh this is hard. It is a tie between Snape and Sirius. While they were enemies in the book, the same reasons apply as to why I love them. They are such misunderstood characters who are judged for their pasts, yet turned out to be some of the most selfless characters in the books.

Do you collect anything? If so, what? I collect sweatshirts from the places I travel too.

Oh my gosh thank you tons for the nomination, Chica!!!

Wait- hold the phone- you used to be a chef?! How did I not know this?!

Uhm, yes napping and drinking margs does count as a hobby. Haha. That’s so cool you’ve met famous people and even had some for clients?! Okay remind me- what do you do that would make them clients- sorry I’m sure you’ve said and I just don’t remember!

Love your take on the HP characters – so trueee!

  2. Thanks so much for nominating me!!! ♡♡♡ Can’t wait to answer your questions. 🙂

What kind of book do you plan on writing/getting published first?! I totally think napping & drinking margs can be your favorite hobby! They are some of mine, too. 😉 I know what you mean about being shy to speak other languages you know. I get shy speaking my own language even though I know I’m fluent, the words don’t come out of my mouth the same.

Yes yes yes to your favorite HP characters & why. Those two have always had my heart. ♡

I so enjoyed reading your answers & facts, Kate!!!

  3. thank you for nominating me! OMG GIRL you’re so sweet, thank you so much for your kind words & linking my vlog AND youtube 🙌🏻 how cool that you were a competitive skater and LOL @ napping & drinking margs 😂 so nice to learn more about you!!

And thank you for once again making my day with your sweet words. It’s wonderful that I can genuinely say “right back at ya” on every one of them! You’re a real gem — and I’m so glad we “met.” Here’s a big margarita toast to you! xx

  5. I would love to have a book published as well. I think to start with an ebook and then try to get myself an actual book. Hopefully one that sells lol. Loved reading your answers. I enjoy watching a good film when it’s raining as well, and I would definitely splurge on travel. Outside of the US, is there anywhere you really want to go?
