Friday Favorites: Charleston Pictures

“Photography is a way of feeling, of touching, of loving. What you have caught on film is captured forever… it remembers little things, long after you have forgotten everything.” ~ Aaron Siskind

One or a Dozen

If you know me, you know I am that annoying person who doesn’t take just one picture, but a dozen. And let’s not even talk about if I ask you to take a picture of me. Yes I am a high maintenance subject and if I could take the darn thing myself I would. What can I say? I like options people, and some times it is the slightest centimeter that can make or break the perfect photo.

Charleston

It should come as no surprise that I took a TON of pictures when I was in Charleston. Like almost ten thousand worth.

I blame it all on Charleston. It is so darn picture perfect! If it wasn’t so picturesque I would NOT have taken that many photos.

Did anyone believe that?

No? Good because I SO would have taken a ton of pictures anyway.

But because Charleston is so darn picturesque, I decided to pick my top favs for a Friday Favorites post.

Also it is so flipping cold and I flew North where they have two feet of snow…So I need some Southern Sunshine to make me smile!

Window Boxes

Not only do I love architecture, but the brightly painted shutters and window boxes made me smile. I easily took two hundred pictures of window boxes…Ooops.

Sunrise on Folly

C4F76FD6-4242-42F6-A202-45C560FBE885

This was not only my favorite day, but I also took the most pictures (How my phone did not break is a miracle!) I love how the driftwood added a haunting touch to the sunrise.

Confession, this was an accidental shot, I came across afterwards and I did not hate it.

Another confession: I easily took close to a thousand pictures of these waves. I loved how the sky reflected in the foamy water and sand.

Morris Light

This lighthouse is one of my favs. And while the pictures are not crisp thanks to my iPhone, I still love them.

I am not a photographer by any means, BUT I do love shooting through other objects, framing them. It adds a layer of mystique and dare I say it, but like we caught Santa delivering presents before the morning?

The Pier at Folly Beach

I always have a hard time deleting pictures like these, because while it may not seem it, but they are ALL different!

1CA5D286-336A-4C0E-B3AC-1852735C00E2

Another accidental shot with something that should not be there…Except I have no complaints because I LOVED the surprise of the bird.

Magnolia Plantation

Magnolia Plantation was one of my favorite places to take pictures. In fact if it hadn’t started raining, I would have kept shooting until my phone AND portable battery died. (I come prepared)

This is the point where I wish I was back in Charleston as I look outside at the snow.

If you hate bridges keep scrolling, (though how can you hate them? How!?) because I might have had an obsession which Magnolia happily fed.

This was completely accidental, my camera decided to blur the foreground, but I don’t hate it.

The algae made me feel like I had stepped into a movie that was the love-child of Jurassic Park and The Secret Garden.

What drew me to this bridge wasn’t the beauty, but the fact a flipping tree was growing right through the middle of it.

C6C9B155-38A2-4158-B216-BEA5DC4F2333

I LOVED this bridge. The location, while off the beaten path, made it perfect to photograph, and photograph I did.

Fort Moultrie

E431AC76-FE1A-41D2-B7F8-C5BF611B6AB4

While this is part of Fort Moultrie, it reminded me of Kawarau Gorge where they filmed Lord of the Rings. (Google it and then book a flight there!)

I can’t take pictures and NOT post one of coffee. It would be sacrilegious! And aside from being the perfect photo subject, it was quite yummy!

If you want to see more Charleston pics you can follow me on Instagram where I will be posting them for the next year… or at least until I go on my next trip.

If you have Instagram share your handle below. Let’s spread some blogger and Insta love! And let me know what your favorite photo is!
