“Christmas isn’t a season. It’s a feeling.” ~ Edna Ferber
I am long over due for another Friday Favorites. With the Holiday season in full swing, there are a LOT of favorite things! ‘Tis the season! While I usually try to keep it to five, I in good conscious just could NOT do that this time around. I did try to keep it (relatively) short.
Boozy Hot Chocolate
Seriously, this is all things pets, rainbows, and flowers. Or maybe Sugar Plums, maple syrup on spaghetti, and candy canes? It gives me life every year, and I have probably been inebriating way to much of it, but it is just to darn yummy!
How, How I ask, can you resist the chocolatey, marshmallowy, warm, toasty AND boogey goodness? You in good conscious can’t! Since Dani from A Beautiful Thing and I were talking and decided it was Hall Pass-ember, I say splurge all you want (just please behave responsibly and do NOT drive which living in the city is not an issue.)
Cogliano Leatherwork’s Cup Holder
Giving a shout out to my insanely talented friend, (you may remember I reviewed a bag he made me this past summer) I got this amazing cup holder from him over the weekend and love it! It definitely makes my coffee look SO much better and keeps my hands from burning off. Win!
Christmas Movies
I am such a sucker for romance and Christmas seems to bring the romantic heart out in spades. (Can we say Hallmark?) I admit I have probably been watching way to much television and not doing enough cardio, but ’tis the season and I have NO shame! I LOVE it!
Some of my favorites Are:
White Christmas
The Santa Clause
Elf
National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation
A Crown For Christmas
A Princess for Christmas
Yes the last two are solidly Hallmark and I am proud of it!
The Greatest Showman
As someone who has been listening to Christmas music since BEFORE Halloween, you have to know it has to be something pretty damn epic to drag me from my Sleigh Bells and Fa La La-ing. This soundtrack is frickin’ incredible as well as inspirational! From the vocals to the lyrics, not only does it give me voice envy, but it puts me in such a happy, can do anything mood. This is Me is that song EVERYONE needs as their anthem. I can not wait to see the movie because it really does celebrate us each owning our uniqueness instead of shunning it. A reminder we all need from time to time to embrace ourselves.
Dressember
Several bloggers (Kali from the Tales From The Thrift Shop and Natalie from it’s not Hou it’s me ) have blogged about this organization and event. Founded in 2009, Blythe Hill began to wear a dress every day for the month of December. The next year, friends joined and by 2013, Dressember was born. The organization has raised over three million dollars to fight against modern day slavery and this year, the goal is two million.
It is amazing to me, that in 2017 modern day slavery is STILL happening and we need to do what we can to help eradicate it once and for all. Wearing a dress is a small way to raise awareness. You can also donate to the organization.
Dyker Heights
It is that time of year, where I make my annual trip out to Brooklyn….Okay I kid because I have been going to Brooklyn quite a bit, BUT back in the day, this use to be the only time I WOULD go out there.
In fact, before I had moved to the city, this was my first excursion to Brooklyn and I honestly fell in love. It is Christmas Lights on Speed. Whoville can only attempt to emulate! Houses in Dyker Heights go all out in trying to out do each other with decorations and it is truly spectacular. It is the perfect way to start the season nd feel some Christmas cheer.
2017 Seaglass Swap
Last year, fellow seaglass collector, Theresa Matthews held a seaglass swap amongst the community on Instagram. I unfortunately missed out on it, but this year, it was on! I was paired with a super sweet woman in Australia. Not only is it fun to send (and receive) seaglass, it has been so much fun getting to know other people who share a love for the ocean and beachcombing across the world. Yesterday, I received my package and it literally made my mermaid heart swoon! I not only got seaglass, but Australian sand, candy, a magnet, and a super sweet card!
Friends and Family
Lastly, I have to give a shout out to my amazing friends and family. I can not say it enough how utterly grateful I am to have such an incredible group of people in my life, especially during the holiday season.
This really is the most magical time of year and it is made all the better with the people who have graced my life and made my heart fuller.
Doing all the Christmasy things, is made so much better by these amazing peeps.
I am also so grateful to all my fellow bloggers and readers. I have made so many friends, especially this last year and to be able to share in this time of year means so much. Thank you and so much love to all of you! <3
What are some of YOUR Friday Favorites?
I just want one of everything in your closet lol your clothes are too cute!
Do you ever make your own boozy hot chocolate? I’m not been sure what I want to put in mine!
Oh my gosh thank you so much! That just made my day!
I have actually! (Though for some reason everything tastes better when someone else makes it for me lol) Baileys, Kahlua, Vodka even whiskey all work well with the sweetness and creaminess! 🙂 <3
Yass! Those hot chocolates look divine. Defo one for Hall Pass-Ember😂 Dyker Heights😍😍 Sooo pretty. Xx
They really are! Bwahaha right? I love that! It really is! definitely one of those hidden gems in the city to visit at Christmas time! <3
These all are so good! I’ve been interested in The Greatest Showman since I saw the trailer a week ago. I should look up the music too 😀
Thanks sweets! Oh my gosh literally obsessed! Still have not seen it, but hopefully after Christmas 🙂 the album is amazing! Hope you have an amazing weekend and holiday!😘
❤
Awww I love this post! I’ve never heard of the wearing a dress every day in December thing, but it sounds brilliant – modern slavery is such a horrific (and worryingly frequent) thing so it’s brilliant to raise awareness for it xx
Awe thank you beauty! I found out about is a couple years ago. And it has gotten bigger each year which I love! It really is! It is one of those issues that really needs more publicity. Thanks for reading sweets! I hope you have an amazing day!💗
