Good-bye October
And just like that friends we are at the end of October. Somehow it feels like the longest month and yet it also feels like I just blinked and it was just beginning. It was a month of intense highs and lows, some of which I am still assessing, but I am also trying to find the positive in it all. I got to do all the fall things in October with people whom I hold near and dear to me and have really come to rely on this past year. I also discovered who my friends are, and as my best friend said, this year was all about getting rid of the trash. Blunt, but also very true.
I would also be remiss if I didn’t mention what happened Wednesday night. If you know me, you know how deeply this cuts. I have always considered Maine my home. Many of my nearest and dearest live there as do many of my colleagues and sadly many of them were affected on the most personal of levels. I am not going to be naive and say it was never going to happen in Maine, because it can and does happen anywhere. It is the state of the world we live in. But I will say, I have always considered Maine, my safe haven. That when I walk down the jetway at JFK my RBF is gone, because that is the kind of place Maine is. And I am confident we will ALL work hard to make it so again.
And on another note I have friends who have been targeted for being Jewish, and I have been targeted for my support of my Jewish family. In regard to this and what happened in Maine, hate has NO place in this world. None. And we ALL need to do a better job of speaking out against it. I am hoping for a better November. A much better November. I have said it before and I will say it again, I am hoping for a more peaceful last two months of 2023 and that 2024 will be much brighter. It truly begins with us friends. Sending you all so much love. It sounds frivolous, but maybe that s what we need. Here are some of my October favorites.
Nails
Friends I switched it up again this month and went with a design I had done last year. White with gold lines. And I love it. I was craving something a little more festive, but I also know people would be like girl slow your roll, so I went with one that is glitzy and could be festive, but also still pretty neutral. I love it and have gotten so many compliments! I really do adore a white nail which in my opinion is just so crisp and clean, and the gold sparkle which was done free hand adds that glam I always have to have.
Sephora Beauty Advent Calendar
Ahhh friends it is that time of year! Sephora just released their Beauty Advent Calendar and I am obsessed! They actually released two. One is their regular calendar of years passed, with samples and a few big gifts. This year they also released a suped up version that comes in a reusable metal tin, that I love. Because waste not friends! All of the products are full sized as well and the value is insane! I can not wait for December 1 to come around when I can start opening my goodies! They also just began their 20 percent off sale, so now is the time to stock up friends on staples AND gifts!
Leopard Jacket
I have shared this jacket before, and actually have owned it for years, but it is having its hey day again and I kinda love it. It is warm, but not bulky, and perfect for a night out, or to just throw on when running errands. It has that elegant style, while literally being an outfit all on to its own. I even joked that I could make it into my Halloween costume!
Nespresso
You know I love my coffee and with the shorter days and colder mornings upon us, I am loving making coffee at home. This Nespresso machine is a huge part of that. The coffee is SO smooth and yummy! And with my frother I am my own barista at home, which translates to saving the moolah! A Nespresso machine also makes a great gift! As does this frother that I got off of Amazon and literally makes the best foam! It truly is the gift that keeps on giving!
Christmas
I feel like I am working really hard to find my joy, and really channeling Christmas hard this year. I have had a few twists, and had to re-evaluate events in December unfortunately. Mean Girls suck especially when they are in their forties. But hey that is life and I am not someone who rolls with the punches, but instead takes the high road after defending myself. And this December is going to be better then any other year. This holiday season is going to be better than any other year. I am grateful to my two besties who have strived to make that so. And also friends I made a holiday account on the gram! Please go give it a follow!
What I am Watching and Listening to:
Okay, I do appreciate football (ahem soccer) but I have never been a David Beckham fan. But friends, The David Beckham Documentary, is out of this world good! I have a whole new respect for him, and I absolutely adore Posh Spice. She is my spirit animal! A girl who tells it how it is! If you haven’t watched it I highly recommend you do! I also watched the second season of Wheel of Time which was good. And now that Hallmark has started their Countdown to Christmas you know what I will be watching from now until January! Bring me all the Christmas movies friends! I have also started listening to Christmas Music and have also been listening to the Sweeney Todd Cast Recording which is pretty catchy!
How was your October? What was something fun you did?
