Grateful For All of You

“At times our own light goes out and is rekindled by a spark from another person. Each of us has cause to think with deep gratitude of those who have lighted the flame within us.” ~ Albert Schweitzer

I am not sure I can put into adequate enough words to express how grateful I am for the responses I received on my last post. From the comments, to the messages, to the re-shares, from family, friends, strangers and even people and celebrities I have admired from afar, I am truly humbled and my heart is so full right now. Thank you. Thank you. THANK YOU! It truly does not seem adequate enough.

My blog post originated as a rambling status on my Facebook last Tuesday night. As I expressed then, it was incredibly nerve wracking and scary to share. I was shaking and kept going back and forth about whether or not to hit the post button. I closed my eyes, hit enter, and in true mermaid fashion let the waves crash where they may.

It isn’t easy being vulnerable. Honestly it isn’t easy being human not even half the time, but most of it. But we are NOT alone and we need that reminder.

You reminded me. I am truly honored so many of you trusted me with your own stories. Your struggles, perseverance and the courage you all have. I am blessed you opened yourselves up and trusted me with a vulnerable part of you and that you in-turn let me share a vulnerable part of myself.

Opening ourselves up, sharing our struggles is scary AF.

To my own type A mindset I am admitting a weakness, that I am anything less then perfect.

But that is okay. None of us are perfect and we ALL have crap we have dealt with and are dealing with.

Talking about it, not only destigmatizes and removes the shame, it also makes us realize we aren’t alone. Many more people empathize then judge us and because of that, we heal. Together.

I always say this isn’t a solitary life or a solitary journey no matter how isolated we might feel. YOU have all reminded me THAT I am not alone and neither are you. We are ALL in this crazy journey called life together. Sometimes it sucks, but there is always someone who can empathize. Your messages have helped me on my journey of healing, but you are also healing yourselves. YOU are the courageous ones and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for being your beautiful inside and out fabulous selves. <3
