I know, I know, I am not British, but I am still adopting the jargon. Blame Harry Potter and all the Christmases at Hogwarts. Yes, a part of me wished for that as a kid! I hope you all had an amazing Christmas! I certainly did! And now I feel like I need a nap! I kid…kinda! Don’t get me wrong Christmas was amazing, but it was also exhausting! It also flew by way to quickly!
I was actually going to write this up last night, and/or this morning, but here it is five o’clock in the EVENING, and I am just getting ’round for a recap after drinking copious amounts of coffee today, playing with the kiddos this AM, and then binging Hawkeye (for the third time!) this afternoon. Phew, even Boxing Day has been a whirlwind! But in the spirit of keeping Blogmas slash a Nautical Christmas going, here is a recap of the last few days.
Christmas Eve was very chill. After starting super early, and being incredibly Type A, there was really nothing to do even alot of the food prep for the next day was done. I had even made a butternut squash bisque the day before to have Christmas Eve night. In the morning, I went for a run, and did some yoga. The kiddos then came over and we had a Nerf war and then watched The Santa Clause.
After they left, it was a chill afternoon/evening with Christmas movies, the soup, and Christmas cookies! Instead of watching National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, we watched a White Christmas which is MY favorite Christmas movie! It wasn’t just the perfect way to spend an evening before Santa came to visit, but also an early evening, which was necessary after the hustle and bustle of the season.
Christmas Day actually began in a super chill manner. It was just my parents and I in the morning, and we didn’t rush to wake up at a crazy hour like I use to do as a child. I actually ended up sleeping in! Which was a nice treat, especially after al the travel I had done the two previous weeks. We had our big Slovak breakfast, and then opened presents from each other. Santa was incredibly generous with a Chappy Wrap I have been wanting for a long time, (it is currently on my lap as I write this now!) A cozy sherpa sweatshirt to rep my Giants, a bunch of Sephora goodies, another building for my village, Sewcialite earrings as well as her handprinted Christmas Shells, Spanx leggings, a Melsy’s mug to add to my collection, and a Starbucks gift card along with some other things.
We also were in for a huge treat, because it snowed! After last years deluge of rain (that washed away any snow we had and created flood warnings!) and a couple Christmases before that where we had an actual blizzard (and I ended up shoveling multiple times or else it would have been to much) it was nice to get a couple inches, that made everything pretty and snow covered, and feeling very Christmas-y. Of course I did have to shovel today, but it wasn’t to horrific.
After presents, we watched the Santa Clause before my brothers, their significant others, and the kiddos came over. After that it was pure (fun) chaos, as the kids opened presents from Santa and my brother. They were ecstatic with their toys. It was hard to pull them away, but we had dinner before opening MORE presents, where I got a Christmas mug to add to my collection and a blanket that was repping Kennebunkport! Then it was dessert time, some more playing, and finally a Christmas movie (this time FINALLY National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation) and then bed.
A Wonderful Christmas
Of course in between there was also clean-up. It was a fun filled, busy day. Not the clean-up part, but everything else! It was an amazing Christmas one that was cozy, literally! My Mom, my brother’s girlfriend, my aunt and I all got Chappy Wraps, (woot!) and my other brother’s girlfriend got a Dudley! Plus with the sherpa sweatshirt I got and then all the bath products and candles, it is going to be comfy cozy winter!
As I mentioned today, was all about chillaxing. It is crazy how much we prepare for one day and then it is all over. Heck even the Christmas music is done, which makes me sad as I feel they should play that until New Years. Especially as they started late this year. The tree looks very, very empty right now. But it is also nice to see the tree skirt again. I am not ready to say good-bye to it. Tomorrow it is back to the grind as well as redirecting my focus on other exciting adventures and news that will make for new adventures in 2022. I can not wait!
How was your Christmas? What was your favorite present? DO you have the week off or are you working?
Sending you all so much love! <3
