“Lipstick is the most valuable weapon in a woman’s make-up kit. It has the power to transform the appearance and mood of the person wearing it, and, at the same time, arouses the admiration of everybody else.” ~ Monica Bellucci

Happy National Red Lipstick Day!
Hello friends! Happy National (Red) Lipstick Day! If you know me whether on the blog or in person you know lipstick, especially red lipstick is a staple and a must have in my make-up arsenal. If I don’t wear any other speck of make-up you can bet I will be rocking the lipstick and red lipstick at that. It is who I am. Even when wearing masks, I still rock(ed) it. If I am not rocking it, someone is usually asking me if I am sick. It is as me, as my blonde hair.
The IT Shade
It might seem trivial, but finding that perfect shade of cherry red is a lot harder than you might think. I have looked far and wide to find a shade that isn’t to purplish red or to orange. But just the right balance of color science. For the longest time, my staple red was one by Bite Beauty, which had been created for Sephora Rouge members. Unfortunately they discontinued it, and Bite never added that exact shade of red to their regular line-up. Thus I continued looking. I have used Tarte, and Kat Von D and Smashbox, but I still didn’t feel like I had found that perfect shade of red. That shade that screamed ME. UNTIL this year.
Dior to the rescue! Not going to lie this is definitely a pricey lip color but while some people have signature scents (okay I do have that too) I have a signature lipstick shade and this is it. Number 080, Red Satin Smile is my favorite. It is the perfect cherry red, not to orange nor to purple, but a true bright lip popping red! It doesn’t dry my lips out, which is something you have to look out for with a lip color this bright, and it is long lasting. And while it is pricey, it lasts me months! Dior is such a classic brand, it makes sense they would have such a classic shade of red!
Do you wear lipstick? Do you have a signature shade?
