The tones of gray, pale turquoise and pink will prevail. ~ Christian Dior
One of the “It” colors for spring and summer – and in my humble opinion the only color- is the ultra chic blush pink. It is known by a variety of names: ballet pink, baby pink, light pink, and rose pink. The last is fitting since in flower speak, the color symbolizes elegance and gentleness.
This particular shade of pink has always been a staple in my wardrobe. Offering a bit of splash, yet still channeling the more neutral side of the color palate. It is a versatile color I can dress up or down depending on my mood. When I began seeing it in magazines and stores I became giddy. Reminding me of the delicate little girl who was eager to be in her leotard and tutu and later of the woman who still likes to be girly, but also stylish.
I believe in pink. I believe that laughing is the best calorie burner. I believe in kissing, kissing a lot. I believe in being strong when everything seems to be going wrong. I believe that happy girls are the prettiest girls. I believe that tomorrow is another day and I believe in miracles. ~ Audrey Hepburn
Audrey truly did say it best. It is a color that invokes warm and fuzzies. Whenever I wear it, I always feel my mood brighten, my spine lift a little taller, and I definitely give out the “I am woman pheromone.” Pink doesn’t just represent girlishness, but a sense of class and grace a woman has. Some of the most well known, and politically connected women have donned the shade, which many women have then tried to emulate. And why not? Blush might sound like a capricious name batting eyelashes or giving a girlish thrill, but that is the power and also versatility of the color.
In particular, I love coupling it with navy, gray or moss. And of course black. Living up to its neutrality, it really does go with most colors. I love making it a focal point in an outfit (like the tulle skirt below I am obsessed with) I also love using it as accents with accessories matching my shoes and makeup like a true fashionista. Their are so many options with this shade of pink which makes it so fun to style outfits with.
