My Teeth

On Wednesday I went to the dentist, and I got so many questions on Instagram about my teeth that I figured I would write a blog post about my dental hygiene because shockingly, I haven’t yet! I know friends! I have been soaringly lacking, because I LOVE going to the dentist and my dental health is incredibly important to me.

I know, I know, some people really hate getting their teeth cleaned or even going to the dentist at all. I am not one of them and never have been. Perhaps it is the toys I use to get from the big ol’ treasure box after my cleaning (that was filled with the best trinkets to an eight year old’s heart, but let’s be real was kinda junk) as a child, or maybe it is just all the money my parents spent on braces as a kid, and yes I do STILL wear my retainers. Or the fact that smiles really are important. Whatever it is, I am super OCD about my teeth.

Which is ironic, because while I loved going to the dentist I hated brushing my teeth as a kid. Legit I would do everything I could to avoid it because I hated the tooth paste. (back then it was mint and only mint flavored) I don’t know HOW I don’t have more cavities, but I don’t and on Wednesday my teeth DID get a clean bit of health. Yay!

Brushing and Flossing

While I hated brushing as a child, I don’t hate it anymore. I brush my teeth and floss multiple times a day. I don’t like feeling like I have food between my teeth nor do I like any sort of film. I actually feel like I floss more then I brush. and I will use a combination of the floss picks and regular string dental floss. I have thankfully gotten over my aversion to mint tooth paste (it is better then bubble gum or cinnamon yuck!) and I use Crest Whitening toothpaste to help my teeth stay pearly white. I have also brushed with baking soda and charcoal which also keeps my teeth clean and white.

Crest Whitening Strips

Speaking of which, I use Crest Whitening Strips. I don’t use them daily or even weekly. But they do help when I feel like my teeth aren’t as white as I would like them to be. As someone who drinks a LOT of coffee, it is important to protect and maintain their whiteness. I must be doing a good job because the dental hygienist the other day was impressed. Yay!

Whitening Mouth Wash

I also use mouth wash. Again not daily, but most nights I will swish it around, to maintain the health of my teeth, and it also helps with whitening as well as strengthening my teeth. I also do oil pulling where you swish around oil (I use coconut oil) to pull all the bacteria out.

Go to the dentist

I go to the dentist every six months (roughly depending on my schedule) for a cleaning. There is nothing better then having someone clean your teeth and leaving the dentist with your teeth feeling smooth and clean. Even if you take the best most pristine care everyone gets tartar build up, so to have someone clean them (who knows what they are doing!) as well as check on the over all health which includes your gums, and jaw bone is so important and beneficial. I also will get fluoride treatments which helps protect them.

How do you feel about the dentist? Do you like to go? Do you take particular care of your teeth?
