The Travel Tag

“The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page.”  ~ Saint Augustine

Thank you so much Dannii Jane of A Beautiful Thing for nominating me for the Travel Tag. If you haven’t read her blog, please check this London fashionista out! Her space is the perfect blend of fashion, books, eateries, and of course travel all done with wit and charm.

With all of my adventures (and having for another one soon!) this really is the perfect blogging tag to be nominated for. If I could be paid to travel, I would be an incredibly happy woman. Some day, hopefully, some day, I keep telling myself. And it will happen. National Geographic are you reading this?

Without further ado:

You are leaving tomorrow to start a life in a new country, where would you go? They always have to start with the tough questions. Either the  Villefranche-Sur-Mer or Ios and Paros in Greece. I have never been, but they are on my bucket list. Living vicariously through friends it looks like paradise.

You can take someone for a weekend away to the place you had the best holidays ever, where would that be and who would you take to go with you? Paris, France. It was a monumentally defining point in my life changing it for the better. Anyone who loves to travel and knows how to have fun! While I know a lot of people like that, two people who come to mind immediately are my Mer-Twin and my Gemini twin. My Mer-twin and I have actually discussed taking a month off and traveling through Europe, as writers we share the same dreams of channeling the greats sitting in a Parisian or Italian coffee shop channeling our inner muses. My Gemini Twin is truly one of the most easy going travelers because we have the same quirks and are on the same page so it makes it so much easier to know what to expect. Plus she is always a blast!

You can get married wherever you want to, your budget is limitless, what is your choice? Actually I just attended a wedding on Fire Island and it was absolute perfection. It was a hidden paradise on an island. No one drives, so you have to walk everywhere and bars and coffee shops alike are open until four AM. It is so incredibly peaceful, yet utterly romantic, mixed with waves and nature (I had a deer eating out of my hand they are so tame there!) and yes even some debauchary. It really is the perfect place to say your I dos.

During your travels you can bring back home one animal as a pet, which one would you pick? I have always wanted to go on safari especially to see the lions. They amaze and terrify me all at once with their proud strength, deceptive cuddliness, yet stunning beauty. Who wouldn’t want a Nala or Simba in their backyard? Or my case, probably my bathtub.

You can get back in time and relive one family trip, which one? This isn’t going to sound glamorous, but honestly whenever we moved my siblings into school we use to go for “Bonuses.” That was our reward for being dragged to their college, sweating buckets as we gave them free labor to lug their crap (seriously a couch? A couch!?) up multiple flights of stairs. My parents were smart, though, because it was great incentive to go because we knew if we hauled our derrieres we would be able to jump in the pool, splash each other, play water football, and just have fun and relax. To this day, I still love going to the pool. Click here to read more about my nostalgia over “Bonuses.”

What is the first thing you would pack for a one year travel around the world? My iPhone and charger. It is my camera, communication, mini laptop, note taker, and literally jack of all trades. And well you can’t have the phone without the charger so they kind of go hand in hand.

What would your fantasy 100th birthday destination be, and why? A cruise along the Volga and Neva rivers in Russia…If I haven’t visited already. It is on my bucket list.

During your travel you can learn one sport to become a pro, what would that be? Surfing. I have always wanted to learn ad since I love tropical getaways it would be perfect to learn and become a pro at.
