Wanderlusting: Peet’s in DC

“Coffee connects us in so many ways – to each other, to our senses, and to the earth that supports the coffee trees.” ~ Rohan Marley

For the Love of Peet’s

If you followed my San Francisco adventures last year, you know how much I LOVE Peet’s. I legit could eat, sleep, breathe, and make love to Peet’s coffee. Aside from Sarah, who as my fellow jetsetting blonde has been along for the caffeinated Peet’s ride, Mack is my partner in Peet’s loving coffee crime and she understands that as someone who lives on the East Coast, the struggle to survive without Peet’s is a daily struggle.

Peet’s is a predominantly West Coast coffee brand, though you will find them occasionally at airports, and in the lobbies of Capital One Banks. They are few and far between here on the East Coast, and New York only has two, one in the Kimmel Center at NYU and the other in the above mentioned lobby of Capital One in Union Square. While I can quench my cravings occasionally for a Havana Cappuccino, they are not a true Peet’s coffee shop.

Peet’s Spotted

Like any good coffee junkie, I had researched local coffee shops in DC yet somehow Peet’s never came up. Imagine my shock and awe as I was sitting in Fruitive, and I spotted a woman walking with a Peet’s cup. I started hyperventilating and I think Sarah expected me to jump from my tipsy stool and run out to give the woman the thirty degree to know where the heck she got that cup o’ joe!

I restrained myself, barely, but I did pull out my phone and start googling. I discovered there was not one, but MULTIPLE Peet’s locations in DC. Twenty-three to be exact! Twenty-Three people! I was in Peet’s heaven!

Peet’s buys Caribou Coffee

A predominately Midwestern company, Caribou Coffee had the market on caffeinating the DC Metro area until 2013 when Peet’s made the fabulously smart decision (now when the heck will they buy a coffee chain in New york?!?!) to buy their stores and convert them into Peet’s.

DC-sonians rejoice! My caffeinated run’s on Peet’s heart grew about ten sizes when I heard, and when I discovered there were five in walking distance? Poor Sarah could barely contain me!

All the Peet’s

I have no shame in admitting that I shunned all other coffee shops, (there was even a Starbucks nearby) and in the thirty-six hours we were in DC, I had five large Havana Cappuccinos.

No shame people, Absolutely NO shame. It was the nectar of the Gods and I admit a part of me was ready to move to DC right then and there.

Have you had Peet’s? What is your favorite coffee or tea shop? What do you always order?

  1. I love how much you love Peets! I seriously feel like I’m missing out on something over here in England since we don’t have one! Uh, I will have to try find one next time I’m in the US! Even though I’m not a great coffee lover I would be happy to try Peets considering how much you love it. I can’t believe you had 5 in 36 hours LOL although that would be me with ice cream to be fair. I’m so glad you discovered a Peets there that you weren’t expecting because that’s so exciting, like a little surprise, the Universe was on your side when you were in DC!!! When you saw that lady with the Peets cup I can imagine how excited you were!! Also, you look gorgeous as always! Loving your hair beauty and of course that jacket! Xx

    1. Hehe. I am obsessed girl. Obsessed! I have a very serious Peet’s problem! :p Ughhhh girl I hate to be the barer of bad news but you are missing out! ;p Yes girl!!!! You come to the US I will google where all the Peet’s are just so you can go to one. (again I do not have a Peet’s problem ;p)
Bwahahaha Again do NOT have a problem….Okay fine I totally do! Ice cream is SO yummy!
Thanks beauty! So am I. Such a nice surprise and totally made me love DC even more.
Bwahaha I was ready to run out right then and there! :p
Awe thank you so much sweets! Ahhh thank you! My hair is FINALLY long! Yay!!!! <3

  2. I’ve never been to Peet’s but I don’t think they do so well in Vegas. We only have one and another one that permanently closed down!! I’ll have to go to the one that is here. Hopefully it doesn’t get closed down, too!
    P.S. I looove that blue skirt/dress you’re wearing!!!

    1. That stinks! It is why I think there are not many here in New York or in New England. Everyone prefers Starbucks or Dunkin. I hope you get to go to one. They are so yummy! Awe thank you sweets! This dress is one of my Summer favs! <3

  3. YAS. GIRL. I know I’ve already told you how proud I am of you for your Peet’s Quest, but I’ll reiterate it again… so so proud, and jealous. Dang girl, you are an inspiration! *Praise hands*. Haha. Also- CRAZY that DC has so many Peet’s while it’s so rare on the East coast?! Seriously, hwo is NYC so behind?!? We need to write them.

    YOU. ARE. THE. CUTEST.

And that outfit girl- I’m obsessed. These pictures are perfection.

I don’t think I even need to answer your questions at the end- you know all my answers. LOL! UGH, I love this post. I’m in support x2925985034. LOVE IT, LOVE YOU!

    1. I flipping love you so much! This comment just made me laugh so hard in the middle of Starbucks (I promise I am not cheating on Peets I pinky promise!) If there is a Peets I will find it, even if it means accosting some poor woman just trying to drink her Peet’s out on the street to find where she go the nectar of the gods from :p Which reminds me are there Peet’s in San Diego? Right? I know they bought a chain that was DC based, but even still, with all the coffee shops in NYC I would think they would have a couple.
Yes! It is my only beef with the concrete jungle, but alas a very big one. SIghhhhh.
Awe thank you sweets! Whenever I am with my main squeeze Mr. Peet’s, you can bet any picture will be perfect! ;p (No I do NOT have a Peet’s Problem. I swear!)
Haha no you don’t, you are my partner in Peet’s Coffee lovin’ addiction and I would like to dedicate this to you!! <3 lol. but no seriously, I love how much you also love Peets! <3

      1. Hahhaha, it’s ok I cheat on good old Peety’s sometimes too. Plus you have even more of a pass considering there are hardly any near ya! (not to remind you…. sorry… sore subject)! I don’t particularly remember seeing a Peet’s in SD, but I’m SURE there are! There have to be, right?! Only you and I can literally have this long of a convo about our coffee obsession. I love it. Hahaha.

        1. Okay I am dying now! Bwahaha and Gasps! You do!?! HOW could you cheat on the Peetster? (I really just wrote that so I could say Peetster :p) Sheesh you HAD to remind me? ;p Though you also validated my coffee choices, so I also thank you and yes we can still be friends! 😀
Bwahaha joking aside, I am pretty sure if anyone read this they might be concerned not for us but for whoever this “Peet” person is! ;p
Haha that is why I love us! You get my obsession with Peets! And there HAS to be one! There has to be one! Or SD and I will have words. Hehe I love you mucho beautY! Thank you for the morning life! <3
