Dressing Up
I LOVE getting dressed up and I admit I always tend towards the dressier side of things wherever I go. I much prefer being over dressed then under any day of the week. Just something my madre drilled into me and has stuck with me ever since.
That said I am not suggesting wearing a ball gown to a barbecue, but when going out especially at night, I love throwing on a dress and if it is Summer I LOVE rocking a skirt and crop top especially if I am going to a bar.
The skirt
I have been on a Lulu’s kick and they have the perfect clothes for summer. They offer a varied selection of two piece sets which I have become obsessed with. It feels like you are getting multiple outfits out of one. And when traveling it gives you more options. Technically this skirt came with a tie front crop top. Unfortunately, it was just a little to plunging for my tastes, so I nixed the top and just stuck with the skirt which I adore.
My only complaint with Lulu’s is that they make their clothing for six feet tall giants. Everything I have bought from them I have had to have hemmed and this skirt was no different. I don’t know how the seamstress did it, because instead of a zipper this has an elastic waste and it wraps around attaching to the band. But she worked her magic, and it looked and fit amazingly!
The shirt
Because of the above mentioned possible wardrobe malfunctions (even if it is a night out on the town) I decided to pair my burgundy crop top with this. Originally I had thought to stick with white, but because of the flowers in the skirt, it pulled the colors together perfectly!

It was a little more skin then I was use to showing, but hey I was in California and we were going.
The look
Because of the pattern of the skirt, I let it do the talking keeping accessories to my staples, donning a simple blush SeaMilligan Design Tassel necklace, lace earrings, and my Lighthouse Studio Design cuff.
I did pair my comfy blush stilletoes for a dressier look, but I easily could have done a pair of flip-flops for a more beachy vibe if I had wanted too.
I brought a denim jacket just in case I needed it, but as luck would have it, the night stayed warm, and I could rock my summer look all night.
What is your going out outfit? DO you prefer to be under or over dressed?

You look so gorge. I adore this combo on you, the crop top is so cute😊 xx
Awe thank you sweets! <3
Beautiful photos girl!! I absolutely love this look on you, and I like how your posing comes across natural, whilst still looking chic and cool. If that makes sense? You basically don’t look awkward!
I am an over-dresser all the way. Similarly, my mum kind of drilled it into me. Well, she spends forever each morning getting ready, even if she’s going to the shops. I love wearing summer dresses and crop tops. I’m really put off by jeans at the minute and want to buy more smart-looking trousers and skirts. Lovely post! xx
This is SUCH a cute outfit! It really is perfect for summer. Great choice! <3
Such a gorg outfit! I love your skirt x
Yes to being overdressed than underdressed although your comment about wearing a ball gown to a bbq did make me chuckle! Tbh, I don’t even know if I would manage to draw the line there. Ok I would, but still! Dressy ftw 😂 I absolutely adore this outfit and I think you paired the skirt perfectly with the crop and shoes. It ties together so wonderfully, I couldn’t imagine it styled any other way. I think the burgundy crop gives and extra hint of glam to the outfit and the heels really dress it up. You look incredible ❤️
This flying skirt is amazing! Lovely photos!
I love this outfit on you it really suits you ❤ xx
Omg the skirt is gorgeous!!!! And I love how the brown crop too really does bring the look together. It’s the perfect combination!
Super cute! Perfect for Cali summer. I like being slightly over dressed rather than under dressed. I have to hem many things too! Hahaha. 🙂
Ahhh I thought I commented on this too- Idk why they aren’t going through?! Hopefully they are now. but this is AMAZING. Love the maroon- perfection. And you cannot go wrong with a crop top ever!
