The Glitz and Glam

I have to say this post coincidentally fell on a Friday and I didn’t even realize it (I mean do any of us really know what day it is between Thanksgiving and Christmas? If so, you are a rockstar!) until after I had written it and was getting ready to schedule it. But it is a happy coincidence that I am going with! I have always loved a glam look. It is one of the reasons I would do Fancy Fridays even during the pandemic (The at home, party of one, version). I love getting dressed up, especially at Christmas time. I loved getting glammed up for all the holiday parties and galas the season offered, and while there hasn’t been much in recent years, I still love it, and can’t wait for them to resume. And with how dark and dreary it is right now the added glitz and glam not only brightens things up, but gives it some sparkle!

In fact, many of the trends of this season, perhaps reflect our desire to break out of the dreariness of this past year’s quarantine, put aside our Christmas PJ’s and get dressed up to celebrate the holidays. Some of the biggest trends are sequins, brocade dresses, satin ball gowns, and of course anything and everything velvet. In other words ALL the glitz and glam to make the last month of 2021 go out with some pizazz. And I am here for it!

While the days of going to galas and holiday parties have been put on hold thanks to covid and location, and I had to hang up my super fancy dresses, I am ready to pull them back out, and rock them even if it is just for myself at home! I have several glamorous looks to share with you friends which are perfect for midnight mass, holiday parties, galas, or just celebrating at home or doing a Fancy Friday. You don’t necessarily need a reason to get dressed up, but this season definitely offers many chances!

Green Velvet

First up is this green velvet one shoulder dress from Lulus. I mean is it really Christmas if you don’t wear a velvet at least once? I always feel so royal in velvet, and this dress makes me feel all sorts of regal! I have always been a huge fan of green, and green is another trend of the season that I am loving. I found some amazing green dresses this season including this one. While it is technically a body con dress, which tends to be a typically tighter and more body hugging style, I felt comfortable in it. I didn’t feel self conscious at all in it and it was extremely flattering. I styled it multiple ways from adding red heels with it for some contrasting Christmas colors to adding a plaid shacket for contrasting texture, it is a dress that has endless festive options.

Sequined Green Body Suit

This was the look I didn’t know I needed, and unexpectedly fell in love with! I have NEVER owned a bodysuit. I know y’all are thinking WHAT?!?! But it is true, it is a trend that has taken some adjusting for e, and much like rompers, I wasn’t sure given my height I could pull them off, but friends I feel like I did! I at least felt comfortable in it and really that is all that matters! This sequined green body suit from Lulu’s has all the pizazz perfect for a holiday party or to even rock on New Years! I paired it with black pants and heels, for pictures, but it also works perfectly with skirts. I also styled it with a variety of jackets (including the plaid shacket again). Sequins can be daunting, but this bodysuit is extremely versatile. I love the cowl back which adds that extra detail! While it fit perfectly, I did have to use a LOT of tape so everything would stay in place.  It also had snaps so unlike a romper I wasn’t having to undo everything if I needed to use the restroom. Friends I think I am converted to the bodysuit!

Satin Green Dress

Okay I feel like I should have just called this the Green Edit, but maybe that sounds to close to the Green Lantern I don’t know, but as I mentioned above Lulu’s had ALL the green dresses and I was here for it! Green is one of my favorite colors, especially a nice emerald or Kelly Green hues and this is the season for green! This dress might be my favorite and the one I rock this season! Though I do have a red one I will be sharing later this month, so it might be a toss up, but I digress! This dress is certainly the most comfortable while still being super chic. It has adjustable straps and a sweetheart neckline. It has a faux wrap in front which is super flattering, and the side slit adds some sexiness, without being to much. I stuck with my regular size and added black heels and my cape blazer which honestly everyone needs one in their closet! The result is a chic look perfect for a glamorous night out!

The Sequined Jacket

Technically this isn’t a dress, but it is certainly glamorous and it deserves an honorable mention. This silver blazer from Lulus is everything! I was worried that it would be over the top, and when I first got it, I did feel a little like the BeeGees ready for a disco. But honestly, it is the holidays and everything NEEDS to be extra this time of year! While it is on the longer side, it adds to its versatility because I can wear it with leggings. And it still looks amazing with dresses, skirts, and other pants, like jeans. I am obsessed and much like my cape blazer I feel strongly everyone needs a sequined blazer!

  1. I love all the dresses! (And the body suit, too, although that gives me flashbacks to the early 90s when I wore them all the time. Haven’t worn one since.)
