“Happy, happy Christmas, that can win us back to the delusions of our childhood days, recall to the old man the pleasures of his youth, and transport the traveler back to his own fireside and quiet home!” ~ Charles Dickens
Christmas Morning
Christmas Morning has always been incredibly special and fun. As kids, we would wake up early and watch a new Christmas movie before the parentals woke up. We would then open our stockings before rushing to the living room to see what Santa had brought us as the presents from him were unwrapped. We’d then have our traditional big Slovak breakfast before opening presents from each other and playing with all of our gifts we had gotten.
While Christmas morning was a big deal, we never did the matching pajamas that so many families do. To be honest, much like ugly Christmas sweaters, I was never a huge PJ fan. I much preferred yoga pants and a comfy sweatshirt, which were much more comfortable and versatile. I could transition the pieces to every day wear if I want too, and not just at night or for one special morning.
‘Tis the Season for Change
That said, sometimes practicality is overrated and it is fun to be festive. Pink Lily has a vast selection of Buffalo Plaid separates that you can wear alone or mix and match. Originally, I was just going to buy a sweatshirt I saw, because I loved the style so much, but the matching pants were calling my name.
I have written before about my issues with pants, and pajama bottoms in particular. Unless they are petites, they don’t make them for my build (short and curvy) and I always struggle finding the right fit. They usually end up being to tight in the booty and to long in the length and if they come in a set, fuggetaboutit, I am two different sizes. It was a hassle that I avoided, because to be perfectly honest, it was a trigger and I always felt worse about myself when new clothes should actually be exciting.
The Set
I have done a lot of work internally on myself and this year, especially, I have taken fashion risks I use to shy away from. While a lot of people get caught up in sizing, I have never been afraid to go for a bigger size, I get the sizing game, stores play, and after reading the reviews, I decided to take a chance, and buy the pants.
I am glad I did. I ended up going up two sizes with the pants, and one size up with the sweatshirt. Both the sweatshirt, and the pants ended up fitting perfectly. While they are separates, they match perfectly and the flannel material is super soft, making the set so cozy.
The sweatshirt especially is so versatile. I have worn it out with jeans and yoga pants, as well as lounging around the house watching Christmas movies. I never thought I would love the pants, but I do. They are a little baggy, but it works with the tapered elastic bottom and the length is perfect. Both the sweatshirt and the pants have pockets and who doesn’t love an abundance of pockets?
This set is not just perfect for Christmas morning or any of the pre-holiday festivities, but through out the Winter. From hanging at your house to a ski lodge, the buffalo plaid flannel is festive and will keep you cozy all season long.
Are you a pajama fan? Do you do matching pajama sets for Christmas?
