Snapshots
Every year I mail out hand written cards to family and friends and with them, I send pictures. Usually they are a smorgasbord of miscellaneous snaps, from glamour shots I did for the blog and shoots, to action shots of me in my travels to group shots of various family and friends. It is a collection of memories over the last year, a way to let family and friends know what I was up to. Some people do family or pups, I do travels.
I have thought of doing collage picture cards before, but I love picking out Christmas cards and writing personal messages. So instead, shaking it up just a tad and finding that happy balance, I asked my best friend to take pictures of me in my Christmas best, in the ultimate of Christmas-esque places and MY favorite place in the city; Bryant Park.
The Outfit
I had found this skirt at White House Black Market back in the summer, and fell in love with it. I right away felt like a princess. Unfortunately I was a princess with no where to wear it. That didn’t stop me from buying it though. If I had to wear it to the grocery store, I would do it!
Thankfully I didn’t have to sink that low and debut it at Trader Joe’s. When I talked to my friend about taking pictures, I knew instantly this was the skirt I would wear and build my outfit around.
I ended up buying the camisole from White House Black Market as well keeping with the black and white theme.
Because it was for my Christmas cards, I wanted that pop of red and looked high and low for red heels. Unfortunately I couldn’t find any plain red ones, but I loved the contrast of the faux red crocodile. And of course no Christmas picture is complete without a Santa hat!
Lastly because it was chilly, I paired my faux leather jacket which was one its last rodeos before I had to tearfully rest it in clothing heaven. In all fairness it had faithfully kept me warm for eight years, and I to my monies worth. I couldn’t really complain.
Bryant Park
Every year, Bryant Park goes all out with their Winter Village. Beginning in October, they open an assortment of shops, restaurants, and their skating rink bringing holiday cheer to the city. It isn’t just my favorite place in the city year round, but especially this time of year, it is the perfect spot to take pictures amongst the hustle and bustle of Christmas.
Armed with coffee, (in a red matching red Starbuck’s cup to match my outfit, almost like they knew I would need it as an accessory in pictures…Joking kinda) my friend and I strode through the park, shooting pics and soaking up the holiday cheer.
It was still somewhat warm out, so I wasn’t freezing, yet. We took a ton of pictures, drank a ton of coffee, shared so many laughs, and even had a Carrie Bradshaw moment when we snapped some shots in the Public Library. It was an amazing day, and I was so ecstatic with how the pictures came out. What I are I can even rock this outfit for Christmas Eve Mass!
Do you take Holiday Pictures? Do you get dressed up for the Holidays?
