What DO I Wear?!?! False Eyelashes

“Honey, I am going to my grave with my eyelashes and my makeup on.” ~ Tammy Faye Bakker

Pause

I need to pause my San Diego commentary by discussing a life changing event that occurred on my birthday.

Guys I owe you a huge heart felt apology because I have failed. I have failed as a beauty blogger. I am a fraud people. A fraud! Okay I might be just a bit dramatic, but it was my birthday and I will be dramatic if I want too.

You might be rolling your eyes and asking how I have failed you all?

Well I have failed because fake eye lashes and I just do NOT get along. We try, but we just don’t. When it comes to those pesky falsies I am seriously challenged. They fall off, I don’t have the patience to wait for the glue to dry. (which is my own fault, I admit that) It is just one hair of a disaster!

But that all changed thanks to my incredible best friend and extremely talented cosmetologist-extraordinaire, Sarah.

I had spent many a coffee date lamenting with Sarah over my lack of talent and patience when it came to falsies, and she as any best friend would right away said she would help me. And what better time to pop that false eye lash cherry then on my birthday?

Sephora

The day before my trip, I went to Sephora, and all but begged the clerks to help me. I was a startled fawn (though I am sure they have better lashes then I do) in the eyelash department and help me they did. True fashion superheroes, they explained the different types of eye lashes and the kinds that would work the best for my eye shape.

I ended up buying two different kinds. A pair that was more voluptuous, but would need to be cut, and a pair that were lightweight and already pre-cut. I was both giddy and nervous.

Make-up

Sarah didn’t just do my eyelashes, but she also did my make-up.

In a previous blog post, I had mentioned how she not only had done my make-up before, but had converted me to the ways of Jane Iredale. I happily blame credit her with my obsession of Jane Iredale make-up. She has never steered me wrong and I knew she would do an amazing job with my make-up.

She not only did an amazing job, but she killed it! I felt like a princess and I didn’t even have my eyelashes on yet!

The Eyelashes

I admit I was nervous. The few times I had attempted falsies, had turned into a disaster that should have been filmed for America’s Funniest Home Videos. Sarah being such a consummate pro, explained every step and the ins and outs of how false eyelashes worked.

She cut them perfectly and in seconds it seemed like she had applied them, where it had taken me hours when I had attempted and lost the falsie battle.

They felt weird at first and she explained that while they would, they should feel like an extension of my lashes after a little while. After fixing the one on my left eye, that didn’t seem to want to cooperate, I discovered she was right and I didn’t even notice they were there!

Now I really am sounding like I am 28 years old young, because I could have started singing Fergie’s Glamorous. Because indeed that was how I felt. Sarah did such an amazing job

I had bought (and hemmed, ahem #shortgirl problems) a dress from Lulus and paired with heels, a Seamilligan necklace and my gorgeously styled hair from Blo Blow Dry Bar I was ready to celebrate my birthday in the utmost of glamorous fashion.

    1. Thank you so much sweets! I definitely recommend trying them! I am obsessed with them now! But a great mascara is definitely much needed! Thanks for reading! <3

  1. This post SPOKE to me!!!! I, for the longest time ever had the biggest angst against falsies because I also just couldn’t get them on for the life of me- I honestly think it was the glue I was using. BUT idk what happened because within the past 5-6 months I’ve been absolutely obsessive over fake lashes and suddenly I’m able to just throw them on like nothing (I guess this is where practice makes perfect comes hand in hand). I feel like its such a great way to preserve my real lashes. Mon-Fri I’m always throwing on mascarav for work and when it comes to removing my make-up there goes my lashes too! So now I throw on lashes every so often and it gives my real lashes a break from the make up and honestly my real lashes are better than ever since I’m not always touching them. I’m 1000000% a huge advocate for them.
Aside from lashes, I’m IN LOVE with your photoshoot with that baby green maxi dress. You look incredible from head to toe!! Love ya!!!

    xo, JJ

    1. A Jenny comment! Ahh this made my day! And girl you also just gave me hope that one day I will be able to master the falsies! And awe thank you sweets it is from lulu’s! I am obsessed! I hope you are having an amazing day beauty! <3

  2. I used to wear lashes daily but I haven’t for years. It’s take ages to apply them now I’m out of practise. I love the lashes you wore they look beautiful. I also love your dress😍 x

    1. Awe thank you so much hun! I am too! I am a convert! I can totally relate to that! i wear contacts, so I actually don’t like wearing a lot of eye make-up because I feel like it gets in my eyes and messes with my contacts. <3

  3. What a beauty you are. Both you and your friend look stunning! Worldies 😍😍 I am the same as you, well, pre this blog post, because I am useless at fake lashes! I think I’ve worn them twice in my whole life. I wish I could wear them but I always fear I’m going to ruin my already done makeup by attempting to put them on!! So I just leave it! Maybe I need you and your friend to teach me 😀

    1. You are the sweetest! And your comments always make my day! Thank you sweet lady! Hehe I am by no way an expert, but slowly but surely. I love the way they look! And girl yasss! I think trip to New York is in order!:) <3

  4. I can never do falsies on my own either!! When others do it for me, they stay on & feel fine but I just can’t do ’em on my own!

Your dress is SO pretty, too! I love it! 😍

  5. Gorgeous!! I love your dress and makeup!! Super stunning!! I find with false lashes, some brands are easier to use than others. Buying black glue really helps, and if you look down slightly and just hold them for a few seconds before removing your hands. If you tell me how you apply them, I might be able to offer more tips.

  6. The only time I’ve ever worn false lashes is for my wedding and my makeup artist applied them for me. 😆 I haven’t since because they just scare me, lol. I feel like I’m going to glue my eyes shut or something lol.
