What DO I Wear: Fancy Friday Christmas Edition

“A lot of sequins for New Year’s! Red, green, white – I fail at all of that because I’m always in black. But for Christmas, I do love wearing cute dresses with tights and a pair of boots.” ~ Ashley Benson

Fancy Friday

I debated sharing this, since in true 2020 fashion I didn’t end up using these pictures for my Christmas cards since Shutterfly lost them, and my annual trip to Vermont had to be cancelled and a Christmas Zoom party commenced. And while I debated getting dressed up for it, I have been battling hives, and decided I wanted to be comfy for it, so the usual glam whether it was channeling Vera Ellen in White Christmas or my ballin’ Upper East Side inner Blair Waldorf was cancelled right along with everything else in 2020. Phew that was a lot.

All that said, there is STILL Christmas Day, and while it will be a small gathering (gathering of five over here), I AWAYS get dressed up for the holidays. And since it just so happens to fall on a Friday, Fancy Friday Holiday Edition is a MUST. I wouldn’t be who I am if I didn’t observe this momentous occasion. Not to mention the fact, that. LOVE getting dressed up and being glamorous, and since it is 2020 why not finish it out as glamorous as I can be?

The Little White Dress

Not that we need an excuse, because in the words of Nike “Just do it,” but if you need a little encouragement Christmas really does give us that to be glamorous, and while this isn’t the most glamorous look I have rocked It is festive. It also has endless opportunities to become MORE festive and glam if I so choose. Also while this post is NOT sponsored, aside from the Santa hat, everything is literally straight off of the Lulu’s website as everything is from there. It was unintentional, but the wardrobe gods just know a good store when they see one.

I have discussed before how white is a highly underrated color, and I still believe that. It is also the PERFECT Christmas color, as you can add whatever pop of color you want to it, whether it be red or green. You don’t have to be a bride to wear white, not to mention it is a truly versatile color. I have rocked this A line skater dress year round, including in the summer, as well as winter. I love how classic it is, while still being insanely comfortable, which is always a plus. While the bodice is fitted, it is flattering, and the knee length combined with the halter style makes it more dressy then a sundress.

The Look

I love red, and I don’t need a reason to wear it, but since it IS the color of Christmas and Santa, I will rock it all season long. I had been looking for a dressier sweater, and stumbled across this blazer from Lulus. I loved how classic it was and that I could wear it not just for this shoot, but also year round, given the lightness of the fabric. It also pairs amazing with jeans or my Spanx leggings.

Continuing with the red theme, I found these comfy open toed block heels (which could be a Sam Edelman dupe but are a fraction of the cost!) at lulus that had just the perfect amount of pop of color with the red. I kept my jewelry simple and to be really festive in a few pictures, I may or may not have rocked my sequined Santa hat which maybe lessened the Upper East Side posh factor but it didn’t really matter because I was festive AF.

This might be one of my favorite Christmas Card looks, which is a good thing, because I might just save it for my Christmas pictures next year! And it is comfy which you know I am all about, while still looking the best I possibly can!
