What Do I Wear: Lilly How I love you

“The Lilly girl is always full of surprises. She lives everyday like it’s a celebration, never has a dull moment, and makes every hour a happy hour.” ~Lilly Pulitzer

Lilly Pulitzer Obsessed

Hello, hello Friends! We might be in the dog days of summer, but I am still in a summer lovin’ state of mind and NOTHING says summer more than Lilly Pulitzer. To say I am Lilly obsessed, is a huge understatement. And is it really any wonder why? I mean her prints just meld together with my mermaid loving soul like it was meant to be. There could never be a better partnership, then Lilly and I. Okay maybe coffee. Maybe Lilly, coffee, and I. One major trifecta, written in the stars friends.

Okay, okay am I being slightly dramatic? Perhaps. But it doesn’t mean I am any less obsessed or right about Lilly Pulitzer. I have shared her many times on this blog. Not only are her prints fun, but her silhouettes are so insanely classic, and seven out of ten times her dresses have pockets and you KNOW how I feel about pockets! She is not only the perfect brand for resort wear, but her chic styles are also perfect for the office. And I love that versatility!

The prints

Lilly Pulitzer is always creating new prints. Every season you can expect at least three or four releases of fun colorful designs that come in a variety of styles. Not going to lie, I don’t always love her winter prints, which are much more muted than her summer prints, and this summer she especially killed the print game and honestly took it to another level. I wanted it all! From It’s a sailabration, which is a print she does every year, with slight changes and that is perfect for the Fourth to Cay to my heart and Multi sea turtle soiree which served as a bright cheerful ode to the ocean, she served up all the festive summer fun, that I WILL be taking with me into the cooler months. Here are some of my favorite styles and prints.

The Krysta Tunic dress

This might be my favorite dress style of Lilly Pulitzer’s. It is so simple, yet incredibly elegant with the rick rack detailing at the neckline, and the three quarter length belle sleeves. The silhouette is truly a classic, with its shift style, and a bit demure hitting just past my knees (but I am also short!). It is perfect for work, dinner out, or just because. Every season she does a version of this dress in different patterns and I am obsessed with the Amalfi Blue Leaf It Wild, which literally has ALL my favorite colors in it! The only thing that could make this dress any better would be if it had pockets. But then I am a pocket-holic. This dress does not take much styling, and I usually just throw some cork wedges and a Betty Bow Bag from Sewcialite with it.

Malone Dress

Speaking of pockets there is one dress that does have them, and it is the Malone dress! I love how summery this dress is with it’s sleeveless style, slight collar, and a flounce at the hem with the little bit of ruffle it has. It is such a fun dress, though definitely a touch more casual, though you can dress it up with heels, and a more dressy denim jacket, OR keep it more casual with leather flip-flops. The Celestial Blue Cay To My Heart print is so fun and colorful and yes I am obsessed with blue.

Lindy Dress

The Lindy Dress is very similar to the Malone dress, but alas it does not have pockets (fail Lilly, fail!) BUT it is still perfect for summer and of course days in the office. Juts throw a jacket over it! I love how it also has a flounce to the skirt and the v neck line. The Amalfi Blue Sunny State Of Mind print is so much fun, yet has a certain amount of elegance to it. It also is a bit more muted with the palette. This is another dress that is super versatile which I love, because I can dress it up or down. Take it from beach to bar if I so desire.

Cody T-Shirt Dress

This is a Lilly Staple Style. Every season she sells a version of this t-shirt dress which I love. They aren’t tight like a lot of t-shirt dresses can be, and they also aren’t short, like they can be as well. I love how they are perfect for running errands, or being used as a beach cover-up. You can also dress it up or down, by throwing a denim jacket and heels over it. Yes, friends that literally IS my answer to everything! I even rocked it for the fourth as I own it in the festive Sailbration print.

Johana Cover-up

The Johana cover-up is literally the ULTIMATE cover-up. I own this style in several prints, though I think the Celestial Blue Cay To My Heart is my favorite. The swim like fabric is perfect for the beach, and actually getting wet, if you want more coverage. And it dries super quickly. It also has pockets, which as you know I love! I have also on short notice, worn it to dinner at a resort, I just added a denim jacket and was ready to go.

While Lilly Pulitzer is definitely an investment, (though she has multiple sales throughout the year where you can get insane deals) I love how versatile and fun her clothes are. They literally can be worn for all occasions and styles so many different ways. I love how colorful her clothes are, and I am always receiving compliments. In some ways it is like armor, but armor that brings me so much joy.

Are you a Lilly fan? What is your favorite print?
