“Polka dots are fabulous.” ~ Yayoi Kusama
Power of Polka Dots
I am not a pattern gal. I typically shy away from them. The prints are to bold, and there is not enough versatility in my opinion. I like clothes that are essentially colorful blank spaces that I can accessorize to my hearts content.
BUT.
There is an exception to that rule. And that is polka dots. In fact in the last year I have come out of my no patterns outside of polka dots allowed closet and begun to dabble in florals. Even fashionistas can grow peeps.

There is something chic, retro, nautical and the epitome of fashionable when it comes to polka dots. It is a print that has been rocked for over a century and it never seems to go out of style.
It seems to magically flatter everyone, whether it be small dots or large, polka dots is that pattern that is universal. And I am obsessed. It helps that the typical color palette of polka dots is navy and white which IS my jam.
The Loft
Despite having a love for the spotted pattern, I actually don’t own many polka dotted items. It is something I have coveted from afar including that staple dress, that has seem to alluded me. That all changed on a shopping trip with my best friend.
The Loft is a store I use to shop at a lot when I was in high school, but as I got older, I seemed to frequent it less and less. Sizing wise had become hit or miss and I am one of those high maintenance shoppers who does not want to be trying on a gazillion clothes. I like to know my size.
On a casual afternoon, as I perused the racks my eye was drawn to the PERFECT LPDD…Little Polka Dot Dress. I kept staring at it and my friend convinced me to try it on.
The Dress
It was love at first try on.
It is a simple linen shift, that is super lightweight without being see through. It has a cinched in waist and a soft flutter sleeve that is delicate and feminine. It hits just above my knee, but because of the soft flounce I do not need to worry about any wardrobe malfunctions. In true Kate fashion, it is a dress that has loads of versatility to either dress it up or rock the casual look. I loved the size of the polka dots, and navy being my color, I was obsessed.
Styling
I have talked many times about how much I love navy and pink. It is one of, if not MY favorite color combination and I knew styling wise that was the direction I wanted to go in with this outfit. The polka dots would add an extra style of pizazz.
The jacket of, let’s face it, the year, (are you sick of it yet?) goes so well with it and adds that extra warmth on a breezy Summer night. My pink stilettos also added another pop of the blush color I adore so much. I finished the look with my custom SeaMilligan design blush necklace and bracelet, and some hoop earrings.
It is the perfect outfit to wear to the office, a Sunday Brunch, a birthday celebration, and even an evening out at Broadway. I love how comfortable and effortless it is while still being stylish.
