Attending parties can cause a certain amount of stress. Especially with what to wear. And if it is an engagement party? Forget it? You don’t want to be over dressed, especially if you are rivaling the bride. I also don’t recommend wearing white.
Being the brilliant person I am (wait for the sarcasm) I had bought two dresses and instead of traveling to and fro with them, I had left them in New Hampshire.
With it also being about a hundred degrees with humidity, and it being an outside party, I knew I needed to be fashionable, but not crazy. Thus being the New Yorker dressed to the nines probably wasn’t going to happen. In fact wearing red lipstick was as about as much make-up as I was going to put on in the sweltering heat.
So I settled on a classy, but simple striped strapless dress from where else? But Anthropologie. I could work on my tan, but STILL be cool. The dress has a red and white design, which was perfect for the summer, and has a handkerchief hem that hits mid length. With a tight bodice it flares out creating a flattering look for any and all body types. It also has a sexy cut out in the back, creating a uniqueness that I love finding in clothes.
It was perfect for a summer engagement party. I could also see myself wearing it to an office picnic, or to a dressier restaurant after a day at the beach. So many options for this dress that you can dress up or down depending on the event and of course the temperatures!
To finish the outfit, I added cobalt jewels and to protect my face from the sun, I wore a cream colored rancher hat. It also may have hidden the fact that I didn’t want to do my hair that morning especially knowing their was a high chance I would sweat. Even fashionistas can be low maintenance. I wore flats to the party, but I had brought wedges to wear when we went out later to a dressier Rat Pack style restaurant.
All in all it was the perfect dress and another amazing buy from Anthropologie. I can not wait to wear this dress again!
What do you think of the dress?
