What DO I Wear?!?! Welcome to Sweater Weather

“Sweaters are a closet staple. They look great under a leather vest or with a pair of tailored trousers.” ~ Nina Garcia

Now that the weather has finally, FINALLY, gotten colder I can now pull out my heavier sweaters and rock some of the sweater trends that are in style such as cut out, cowl neck, off the shoulder, and tunics.

Sweaters really are the perfect fall into winter staple. Not only are they functional, which I admit as a fashionista, fashionable does not always equate to functional or practical and fictional and practical aren’t always the vogue of fashion. Yet, sweaters (and no I don’t mean the Christmas sweater) usually embody both fashion and function. They are that one piece that makes it easy to dress them up or dress them down. They are perfect in the work place as well as in a ski lodge, or out on a farm. Sweaters are the versatility in fashion.

I admit my favorite look during the winter is incredibly stereotypical, but hey you can’t argue against fashion and comfort. Pairing a longer sweater with leggings and boots (no, not Uggs) is so simplistic, yet, incredibly chic. I love layering a vest over the sweater or even adding a scarf or shawl for extra warmth on those chilly early mornings.

With winter quickly approaching, spending my weekends out in the country, usually in upstate New York along the Hudson. My look routinely translates to layers, layers, and more layers. A long tunic sweater, leggings, boots, a leather jacket and of course a scarf and some shades it my uniform.

It is comfy, stylish, and can easily transition from day to evening.

What do you think of this look? Are you excited for sweater weather?
