What DO I Wear?!?! The Coziest Sweater

“I love fall because I love the whole cuddling aspect of it, and a sweater dress has that vibe of I’m going to hunker down and be warm, but it’s also very feminine.” ~ Jessica Chastain

Being Cozy

It might be super basic, but if there is one thing I love about the cold weather, (yes, I did say love) is that it is Han Solo Season: A.K.A Boots, leggings, and the best part, sweaters. It might sound crazy that this mermaid who is obsessed with the beach, sun, and ocean, loves something about fall and winter, but first off, I am all about looking on the bright side of things, even when it is negative twenty out. And second, I love being cozy. From heated blankets which I use year round (thank you PCOS and Adenmyosis) to fleece lined sweatshirts to soft sweaters it makes perfect sense that I want to be snug as a bug and warm all the time. Heck, if a snuggy was fashionable I would probably be rocking it.

Sweaters are the chic way to be cozy and still be fashionable. Originally defined as knitted upper wear meant to keep you warm, they have morphed into a variety of styles, from dusters, to the preppy Polo sweaters popular in my high school days, to sweater dresses, they are a fashion trend turned staple and comfortable one at that.

The Sweater

Besides sweatshirts, I can be considered a sweater hoarder. I love a good open faced cardigan or duster, and they are the perfect way to switch up an outfit as well as keep you warm. I am always on the look-out especially in the winter for heavy, yet chic sweaters and I think I just might have found my favorite one at Lulus. I usually shy away from oversized sweaters, while I don’t want it to fitted, I tend to lean more towards a skimming sweater or sweater dress then a bulky one. This is definitely oversized, but it sure as heck is not bulky which is shocking since the sizing is pretty generic, offering S/M or M/L. Being petite, I usually can’t wear clothing sized like this, but since Lulus runs small, I took a chance and am happy I did.

It literally feels like I am wearing a blanket or maybe just a ball of chenille yarn. The fabric is so soft and the ultimate of coziness. It is definitely oversized, without being cumbersome or making me look like I am wearing a huge bag. It falls just above my knees, and has billowy sleeves that I love, adding that extra pizazz factor. The blush color is subtle, making it the perfect neutral to style around.

The Look

It is the ultimate Han Solo outfit. Channeling that comfy but chic style I love so much, I paired the sweater with my favorite leggings from Lululemon, as well as my oldie but goodie knee high boots from Aldo. To finish the look, I added a wide brimmed hat and my Eiffel Tower necklace. Because of its’ length it also works well with tights, booties, and a belt for a different, yet still stylish look, albite a little less Han Solo.

Not only is it my coziest outfit, but it is perfect for Turkey Day. Thanksgiving has always been a more chillaxing holiday in my family, starting in the morning watching the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, to eating good food, to watching all the football and all the Christmas movies, this outfit straddles that line of chic and comfy seamlessly.

  1. This sweater looks soooooo cozy! This is exactly why this is my favorite time of year; there’s nothing better than a swoon-worthy sweater or pullover with some fuzzy socks and a Hallmark movie 🙂 <3

  2. Oooh girl I always love the pictures in your post! <3 I love how perfectly the sweater dress goes with your hat, and yes, it's perfect for Thanksgiving! 😀 <3

  3. Love this and that sweater!!! I always shy away from the oversized sweater look, because I have a hard time finding the right one being a short and thick tator tot. I love the chic simplicity of it though, so I may have to give it another go. Thanks for sharing!!!
