Basic Wardrobe
As much as I hate the colder weather (and hate it more and more as I get older) the basic girl wardrobe is one of my favs. I know, I know, huge eye rolls. while we might throw some shade is there really any wonder why this is a fall staple? Because it is comfortable! Nothing is more comfy then an oversized sweater and some leggings, and yes fashion queens, leggings ARE pants!
While I rock this look, it is without a PSL ( But, I won’t say no to a caramel macchiato) and I try to put my own spin on it. This look can go from binge watching Grey’s on the couch, to apple picking and hay rides and you look put together no matter WHAT you do!
Loft
I feel like my Loft obsession was reignited with THIS sweater. I use to shop there a lot WAY back in high school, and I would rather let my very much questionable fashion choices lay to rest.
Yet, in the last year, I have been shopping here more and more frequently. I blame it on the fact that it is just down the street from my apartment. Or maybe they really have stepped up their fashion game. Or perhaps I have FINALLY come to terms with the horrors of high school. Whatever it is, I am becoming a Loft-A-holic. Much of their clothing is classic with a bit of a twist. And you all now how I love my staple pieces to come with a twist!
I love this sweater because it has a layered look without being heavy. The material is soft cozy and not itchy at all. The added silk ruffle at the sleeves and hem are the perfect touch to take this sweater from dull to chic. The slight bell is just enough to add femininity, yet does not get in the way of moving around like some billowy sleeves do.
The Vest
Guys not only have a done a grave fashion injustice, but I must be loosing my mind because I was sure I had blogged about my most FAVORITE vest and must have fashion piece for the fall and winter. This divine Moto-vest from Anthropologie. I legit might have an obsession because I wear this almost every day! And really it should have a post all its own!

When I bought this (four years ago) aside from the color, it was outside my comfort zone. While I like my fair share of leather, I have never been a Moto-vest girl. My how times change. Or jus the right fashion piece to convert me. And convert me it has.
This vest has so many bells and whistles, from grommets, to pockets, to a diagonal zipper, it is no ordinary vest and it adds character to everything. It is also incredibly comfy. Made of a soft khaki blend, it is cozy on those cool fall days.
The Look
The basic girl wardrobe would not be complete without leggings and I am obsessed with Lululemon’s wander under. They are comfortable, yet flattering (which leggings can be.
Height Hack: I actually order the cropped ones because they hit my ankles. So if you do not want to hem pants, I recommend going to the cropped section especially workout pants.
These boots from Macy’s are my absolute favorite and are perfect for traipsing through corn fields or walking the snowy streets of New York. Because of the height, they pair perfectly with leggings. To keep with the fall vibes, I added my Louis Vuitton bag and wore my blush colored SeaMilligan Design jewelry.
Over all it was a simple, pulled together look that I could rock all day long and still be comfortable. While I may not like PSL’s, the basic girl wardrobe is comfy as all hay, and I love rocking it during the colder months!
What do you think of the look? How do you style the fall basic girl wardrobe to put your own spin on it?

Love your ensemble — it’s adorable! But even more, I love your philosophy of dressing for comfort. It’s a philosophy I’ve embraced wholeheartedly too since I stopped having to wear suits to work. What brand are the boots, btw? I’ve seen them in several of your photos and secretly covet them. 🙂
