A woman has no need to be perfect or even beautiful to wear my dresses. The dress will do all that for her. Cristobal Balenciaga

National Dress Day!

Hello friends! And Happy National Dress Day! If you have been around here, you know how much I love a dress and I admit my wardrobe has way to many of them. My uniform is such that you will either find me in Spanx leggings and Lululemon joggers (usually in the colder months) or dresses, especially in the summer months where I live in them. They are so easy to style, and best yet they are perfect to throw over a swimsuit and go from beach to bar. There is NOTHING like a well made dress with a great skirt, and bets of all pockets! I am a strong believer that all dresses need pockets, and while not ALL of mine have them, many do.

There are three brands who keep my dress obsession going; Lulu’s, Anthropologie, and perhaps the queen of spring and summer, Lilly Pulitzer. Her dresses are absolute perfection! the silhouettes are timeless, and the patterns so incredibly cheerful. While her dresses and clothing as a whole are an investment, they last for years and years and in my opinion NEVER go out of style.

The Dress

Not going to lie, this dress, especially the print, is SO far outside of my comfort zone. But then I have come to realize with clothing, that is when I tend to love it the most (if I don’t end up hating it) and this dress definitely embodies that. I took a chance during Lily Pulitzer’s Sunshine Sale, and am so happy I did. From the moment I received it, it was love, and when I put it on, forget about it!

While on most people, it would be a midi dress, on me it is a true maxi, (short girl problems) but I actually prefer it like that. The skirt is voluminous without being to much and it gives me all the Southern Charleston vibes which I love. I don’t usually go for a square neckline, but I actually prefer it with this style dress. While the pink pattern is bright, it somehow works especially with the rickrack trim. The best part of this dress? It does in fact have pockets!

Styling

Originally I was going to take this dress with me to New Orleans, so I could shoot it as ithad given me all the Southern vibes, but alas I didn’t have room in my suitcase and it was to cold anyway. Don’t fear, it will be perfect for when I am in Charleston! In the mean time, this dress is going to be my go to for all events this spring and summer, and I don’t care if I get the evil re-wear glares, after all, this year is all about sustainability, amirite? And when a dress is JUST this good it deserves to be worn, over and over and over again!

As per my criteria for my wardrobe, this dress can be styled up or down. I have paired it with both my blue denim jacket as well as my white one and I love both looks, though they are vastly different with the color schemes. I have also slipped leather flip-flops with it, as well as heels. This dress will work for baby showers, weddings, Easter, fancy nights out. Seriously, all of the events this season. I am truly obsessed with it and Lilly Pulitzer has scored another, if not the ultimate dress win, in my book.
