The Return of the White Denim
Friends not going to lie, I am very much over winter. A few weeks ago, I had to go out for an event and all I wanted to do was wear a dress…without tights. Alas I couldn’t because it was to darn cold, and while if I was in New York I would and people wouldn’t think twice about it, in New Hampshire there are piles of snow as high as houses and it definitely wouldn’t be the practical thing to do. And did I mention it is freezng? Don’t get me wrong, I love leggings and even boots, (my Spanx leggings are chef’s kisses and worth all the hype), but I don’t want to see them until next fall! Which is why I have said screw it and been rocking white jeans.
Truthfully, while I caption this “The Return of the White Denim,” white denim really has never left my wardrobe. Y’all know how I feel about all the antiquated fashion rules that use to exist and still kind of do, but I refuse to follow them. I DO wear and WILL wear white jeans before Memorial Day. I actually will rock them year round. Not only is there such a thing as winter white, but white denim is a southern staple, given the year round mild temps. Add a Caribbean vacay to the mix, and it isn’t seasonal, but weather dependent.
A Breath of a Bright Neutral Shade
Heck even if it is cold and freezing white denim adds a brightness to your wardrobe, and gives hope to spring. I know, I know, I am literally waxing poetic sweet nothings about white jeans, but I love them and they literally deserve all the praise. White denim is the easiest clothing item to style, even more so then blue denim, in my opinion. It is like a blank canvas that you can then add color or pair with different trends. You can dress them up or down. Take them from a day on the boat, to an evening at a resort.
My favorite brand for denim, including white jeans, is White House Black Market. They have a ton of styles, sizes, AND most importantly for the short girl on the blog, lengths. They are comfy while still being super chic. As I mentioned I rock my white jeans year round. In the colder months I will pair heavy sweaters with them. As well as my staple always on hand Dudley, which I actually rock year round as well. In the warmer months, I love to pair flowy tops in patterns like palm leafs, or a fun Lilly Pulitzer print for the ultimate bright and cheery look. Finishing it, with some heels or flip-flops and a fun straw hat and I am ready to say cheers to all the white denim!
Do you wear white before Memorial Day? How do you style white jeans?
