What DO I Wear?!?! White Jeans

The Rules of White

We have all heard the, “No white before Memorial Day or after Labor Day” rule. Well in my book rules, especially in fashion, are meant to be broken. While most people shy away from white, I tend to embrace the blank canvased color. And that means year round.

Yes, certain fabrics really are a no-no unless you are lucky to take a get-away to the Caribbean. (who are you, and can I stowaway in your luggage?) And as much as I AM a rule-breaker, rocking white eyelet in the middle of a snowstorm in New York City is a little out there.

For me, rocking white depends on the time and place, and yes even the temperament of Mother Nature. And there is nothing more summery or chic then rocking a great pair of fitted white jeans.

White Jeans

White jeans are my jam. I don’t know what it is, but there is something about a pair of great fitting white jeans that has stolen my heart, even more so, then the classic blue denim. They not only scream summer’s on the Cape, but are the epitome of fashion.

They elevate jeans, taking them from the barnyard to P-Diddy’s (Puff Daddy? Sean Combs WHAT name does he go by now?) White Summer parties.

There is also a bit of a risk in donning white jeans. Many people shy away, because they are nervous about staining them. But if you are like I am, you carry a laundry pen and you never have to fear abut getting the pristine white dirty. Not to mention bleach is a girls (and white jeans) best friend.

The Pair

I have spoken at length about how much I adore White House Black Market’s pants. Their petite selection is TRULY petite. I have had the best luck buying pants that fit, and fit well. No one wants a pair of jeans that gives the impression of a pancake booty, nor do they want pants with the pockets halfway down their thighs. (short girl problems)

A few years ago, I bought a pair of white denim from WHBM that I swear were made just for me. They fit perfectly and they had zippers at the ankle which added  bit of pizazz.

Alas, I wore them ALOT and after getting them patched up several times, I had to send them to denim heaven. on the haunt I found not one but TWO pairs of white jeans this year at WHBM, one of which is not only similar to my original pair, but actually better!

Much like the OG, these have zippers at the ankles, but unlike the OG the pockets are actually sewn shut, which I love. You don’t get any of that awkward bunching from the pockets.

The Look

White jeans are incredibly versatile to style. You can cuff them and pair them with some Vans, or you can glam them up.

I personally LOVE rocking jeans (yes even the denim blues) with a beautiful heel. It is the epitome of a contradiction that just seems to work.

I am always layering, even in summer (thank you cafes and stores that blast the AC) so I started out with this blue lace tank from Nordstrom, and paired it with my salmon colored jacket that I have been rocking all spring and will definitely be rocking all summer too.

For accessories I kept it to my staples of a blue SeaMilligan Design’s tassel necklace, my Light House Studio Designs cuff bracelet, and big hoop earrings. Because it was on the cooler side, I added a floral silk scarf from J-Crew. I finished the look with blush stilettos from Aldo.

I not only love these white jeans, but I adored the color combination of this outfit. The bit of pop of color, the floral scarf gave and the chicness (and lets be real, height) of the heels added the finishing touches to an outfit I took from exploring DC during the day, to schmoozing and Happy Hour at night.

What do you think of the look? Do you like white jeans? How do you style them?
