What DO I Wear: Christmas Glam

“I love the excitement, the childlike spirit of innocence and just about everything that goes along with Christmas.” ~ Hillary Scott

Christmas Glam

I love getting dressed up as much as I love lounging around in leggings and an oversized sweatshirt. Balance is the key to life, and this Gemini wholeheartedly embraces it. While I might rock an ugly Christmas sweater or buffalo plaid sweats all day on Christmas being cozy and comfy, I also love getting glammed up for Christmas parties, or having a glitzy night out at The Library at Hotel NoMad or 230 Fifth to celebrate the season with my friends.

Then there are all the Christmas galas, raising money for good causes as you sip champagne in beautiful gowns, feeling a bit like a Disney Princess. While black tie and formal dress has changed over the years and people are embracing a more laid back approach to clothes even at weddings, Christmas is a season that embraces the wacky (ahem aforementioned Christmas sweaters) as well as the glamorous.

White House Black Market

One of my favorite stores, White House Black Market still celebrates the glam, and more formal business attire, including beautiful gowns. They market towards the business woman, and their designs are feminine while still being comfortable.

They are a store that celebrates all body types and are my go to for jeans and pants, which include my faux leather leggings as they not just sell petites, but petite curvy. I love that they are affordable while still having that designer feel.

The Dress

They are also my go to for dresses and have been for years. Anytime I needed a dress for a special occasion White House Black Market is the first place I look and that includes formal Christmas parties. This dress is one of my favorite finds. White and cream aren’t exclusive for the summer or for a bride, but year round. The cream color is elevated by the flecks of sparkly gold woven in the brocade-esque material for the ultimate glam look.

The high low tea length gives it some versatility, while still being dressy and the slight crinoline underneath gives it some extra pouf, making those Boomerang spins a must! The belt at the waist accentuates the waist the rounded neckline is simple, yet elegant. This dress gives me all the British Royal feels. In my opinion it screams Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle. I feel like it would definitely get the queens approval!

Styling It

I decided to let the dress do the talking. Because the dress is sleeveless and it is winter, I definitely needed a jacket. (especially because I get cold so easily!) I went with my tan faux leather jacket that has gold grommets that enhanced the gold in the dress perfectly. For a contrast of color, I went with my staple black stilettos and kept my jewelry simple.

Lastly, not only is it my daily go to even if I wear nothing else, but ’tis the season for a red lip, which pulled the whole look together. It was a simple easy outfit while still being, as well as making me feel, so incredibly glamorous.

What do you think of this look? Do you like getting dressed up during the holiday season?
